What it is

Google Docs, a part of the Google Apps suite, is a tool for sharing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms and drawings. You can collaborate in real-time with your team or with your whole school, as well as share your finished documents with instructors or the entire world.

Educational Uses

Google Docs can be used to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations that:

  • Are accessible from any computer or mobile device.
  • Can be worked on simultaneously by different people in real-time.
  • Can be kept private, shared with other students and/or faculty or made public.

Getting Started

To activate your UW-Madison Google Apps account, log in with your NetID and password at apps.google.wisc.edu.
